You know that great idea you've got? The one that'll change the world, your town, or maybe just your street?
If you live in Victoria's Alpine or Indigo region, there might be an opportunity to action it. This year, SSE Australia is offering its Social Change 101 training to fourteen people from that region, at no charge. Wow.
This is an opportunity for fourteen locals to gain the skills and networks to develop a social venture. Twelve days of training will be delivered between July to November 2016.
This course is for socially minded, entrepreneurial individuals looking to develop an idea or grow a social venture. It's also suitable for those innovating from within an established organisation, looking to transform an existing program into a social enterprise.
Social enterprises are a trendy topic of conversation right now. These are commercially viable businesses that exist to benefit the community, rather than shareholders. Op-shops are a type of social enterprise, GAME Traffic and Contracting and Yackandandah Community Development Company are local examples. The Big Issue Australia, STREAT, Who Gives a Crap and Thankyou Group (formerly Thankyou Water) are other examples.
SSE Australia is partnering with FRRR to deliver this Social Change 101 program. Funding has been provided by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund and local partners for this project include the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program and Into Our Hands Community Foundation.
Your great idea could make a difference. Maybe you should think about applying for this course.
